Active and seven other skateboarding footwear companies have collaborated to create a series of sneakers called the “Drop Sneakers Not Bombs” series. The skate companies including Es, DC, Emerica, Lakai, DVS, Nike SB and Vans each will launch their sneaker at all Active stores on July 7th, 2007. Here is a look (thanks to High Snobiety) at the collaboration between Active and Vans on the Half Cab. The art for this series is lead by Shepard Fairey and the proceeds will go to the Invisible Children foundation which is a foundation for kids that are forced into the military in Africa.
For the upcoming Fall 2007, Converse has teamed up with Grammy winning artist and upcoming actor Common to be the new face in Converse’s fight against AIDS in Africa. Among the first sneakers to release will be the Converse (Product) Red Weapon ($75) and the Weapon Ox ($70) at various Foot Locker, Footaction and Champs Sports. Also slated to release are the “Combat Boot” Chuck Taylor All Star ($60), “Conscience REQUI(RED)” Chuck Taylor Ox w/ (RED) Words of Change ($47)and the “Conscience REQUI(RED)†Chuck Taylor Hi ($52). The “Combat Boot” Chuck Taylor will be available for customization at Converseone.com.
Along the way other designers and celebrities will be given the opportunity to make their mark on the Converse (Product) Red, with 5%-15% of all sales going directly towards the fight against AIDS.
The 2nd volume of the David Flores Project (see Vol. 1) will be released exclusively at XLarge locations throughout Japan. Volume 2 contains two Bearbricks; one red and one white/purple/pink. Each Bearbrick is complemented by a matching shirt which features the classic XLarge logo and the saying “Stakes Are High” on the back.

The Gazelles are coming back this summer in new color-ups and limited edition models. This style was made for adidas pro-skater Dennis Busentiz and features the function of a skate shoe with the classic aesthetic of the Gazelle sneakers people were all about in the 90’s. Check for this model on July 1st and look for more re-issues all summer.
