Nike Future Sole Design Competition

I remember a few years ago, NikeTalk was a haven for some unreal sketches of visionary shoe designers. The names have eluded me now, but some guy I remember scored a gig with FILA as well. Nike has initiated the Future Sole Design Competition for budding high school students to submit their designs in hopes of becoming a new footwear designer for Nike. The contest begins January 1st, 2008 and wraps up May 15th, 2008. A full list of information and rules can be seen here.

Bape Bapesta Mid

The latest Bapesta’s from Bape have released and are featured in colorways similar to boot favorites like Timberland and Red Wings. In some ways, its a reversal of roles between Nike and Bape, while Bape used to drop hideous patent colorways, Nike was pretty low key and conservative. It must absolutely be noted that if it wasn’t for the Bapesta we wouldn’t ever have been graced with the musical prowess of Soulja Boy. Available now at Cliffedge.

Pieces from from the 2008 Spring/Summer Collection from Umbro by Kim Jones have been revealed. The collection is marked by a series of prints associated with World Cup 2010 in South Africa, a nice touch considering the brand’s roots as a stumbling performance soccer brand first and foremost (Capello to the rescue?). The products offer a mix of brash and colorful prints set against simple uppers. I wonder what people do with these designer soccer balls though, do you honestly bring it to your weekend kick arounds? Check your local Umbro by Kim Jones stockists starting in the new year.
