I've been pushing since high school but haven't developed pure talent and skill. I'm decent but who likes being just okay? Exactly! I want to improve but I'm stuck on the basics. I've worked out, strecthed, skate daily, picked up a crew, bought good boards, etc. But, nothing's different in my ability. What's the best approach to just skate and destroy?
Push yourself. If you eat shit, you're probably doing it right. Try and skate every day or most of the week. Skate a variety of things like, transition, rails/flatbars, ledges, stairs, etc. It also helps if you skate with people who are better than you.
