Lupe Fiasco – Official Discussion Thread

He should have just dropped friend of the people first. The album will do well off these singles tho. A lot of people are catching on to Lupe and his singles are climbing. Normally i'd hate to share anything in my iPod with someone else but I'm glad Lu is gettin a bigger fan base. He deserves success imo he's too lyrically gifted.

I cant wait to go through this album, I was just listening to The Cool and remembered how intricate lupe makes his albums with different substories in his verses. This one should be just as good as the first two even with all the bullshit he had to go through to put it out.

A quote off of youtube comments:

Quotes from Lupe's interview w/Loud & Quiet: "Then Lupe told us that he hated his new album, seemingly due to pressure from his label to give it a radio-friendly slant.". "self-criticism that it sounds "like everything else on the radio, only Lupe Fiasco'd" kinda rings true. It's a little mad on the auto tune". "'All Black Everything' that is one of my favourite songs of all time... On this record I've made a masterpiece. But apart from that..."

shitty ass labels >smh

I play all black everything daily.

Such a great song, it had restored my dying faith in lupe. I can only hope that his album will consist more songs of his genuine style rather than his forced upon shit (show goes on, and the other leaked song idgaf about to remember the name)

Lupe Fiasco Talks Depression and Suicidal Thoughts During the Making Of "Lasers"

The saga of Lupe Fiasco's Lasers surely goes down as one of the more troubled preparations for an album in recent hip-hop history, being riddled with rumor, controversy, fan rebellion, and waves of disappointment, and in a recent interview with Details, Lupe revealed a deeper side of his troubles, speaking on his battle with depression upon his initial delivery of the album to Atlantic two years ago.

In the interview, Lupe revealed how the specific track on the album "Beautiful Lasers," where the simple rhyme "If you feel like you don't want to be alive / You feel just like I am" translated into deep personal pitfall.

"To keep from killing somebody else," Lupe said in regards to the song. "The creation of Lasers was a very painful, dark, f*cked-up process."

In what continued to be a heavily documented struggle between Lupe and Atlantic, what you might call the climax of the story appeared when fans carried Lupe on their shoulders, and began to petition for a protest outside of Atlantic's main office in Manhattan. Finding themselves under the heavy pressure of Lupe's worldwide fanbase and major media coverage, Atlantic folded, sealing a deal with Lupe, and announcing a cemented release date for Lasers, which is dropping next week (Tuesday, March 8th).

Since settling the deal, Lupe has released a handful of tracks that have been met with a consensus acclaim, and seems to have recovered from the emotional troubles that have followed him through the process of what might be the most anticipated album of 2011. Next Tuesday has been labeled far more than a return to the spotlight for Lupe, and for fans, is most fittingly titled as a recovery, maybe reinvention, as the follow-up to near-legendary The Cool is certain to reveal the tale of the maturation, and be far more than just a collection of new songs. - DStyles23 Xbox Live GT: DStyles23
