Las Vegas native and XL Records signee Shamir just dropped the visuals for his new song “Darker.” As the title suggests, the video is a step in the bleaker direction compared to his previous work. The purple-tinted, drone-assisted video features the falsetto singer in the middle of the desert, isolated and alone. The toned down song is a nice change of pace and is a good example of the upcoming singer’s versatile talent in advance of his full-length debut. As his high pitched voice soars over the minimalistic beat, the camera swoops and swirls around Shamir creating a dizzying and dramatic effect. Shamir’s debut album Ratchet is due out May 19.
