DFT x Black Scale 2015 Collection
Black Scale spent a good part of 2014 ushering its own aesthetic to the larger streetwear audience
Black Scale spent a good part of 2014 ushering its own aesthetic to the larger streetwear audience through collaborations with Diamond Supply, HUF and adidas Originals amongst others. Here the California-based brand looks back to strengthen its ‘streetwear noir’ aesthetic, finding the perfect partner in graphic artist DFT. Some three years in development, the Mexico City-based artist aligns his own proud, indigenous-infused style with Black Scale’s dark statement pieces. Each piece in this focused collection further underlines DFT’s style; the cycle of life and death is represented in the “Muerte” hats and cheekily-done leather gloves; satin-sleeved bomber jackets bear inverted crosses, and even a distinctive flag-shawl morphs Mexican iconography into a dark, ravenous animation.
