Jay Z - Picasso Baby: A Performance Art Film
Citing the artistic links between rap concerts and performance artistry, the highly anticipated
Citing the artistic links between rap concerts and performance artistry, the highly anticipated Picasso Baby: A Performance Art Film by Jay Z is finally here. Directed by Mark Romanek, the 10-minute film was cut down from 30 hours of footage, including six hours of Hov’s back-to-back live performance of the song in New York’s Pace Gallery. The film showcases Mr. Carter performing on a platform while closely interacting with fans and other artists, and Jay even steps down to allow others to showcase their own artistic skills. Filled with high energy and humorous moments, familiar faces from the crowd included Jemima Kirke, Judd Apatow, Diana WidMaier Picasso, Sandra Gering, Alan Cumming, and the “grandmother of performance art,” Marina Abramovic.
