hyperfuse is shit. pushed by Nike bosses and the ODM to drive down production costs. first flywire years ago to beta test the infrastructure then seem melting to fuse sections over the flywire structure (hyperfuse). good stability, and lightweight. might be good and useful for high performance (and low wear volume), but consumer-use durability is very poor.

problem 1… cannot use on traditional shoe materials without aesthetic and structural compromise. Therefore synthetic materials needed (plastic, nylon mesh, etc)

result, a increasingly flat looking shoe that wears more like an aqua sock. low durability. The shoe will last, but will alter its form and cross crisp/worn threshold extremely fast. Again, not a problem for gym only shoes and performance where look is not as important. but wear them to the club more than 5-10 times and they ready to throw away as the feel and look become undesirable.

problem 2… To combat problem 1, flywire is used to bolster shoe structure. materials used with flywire are non-breathable, therefore you see all hyperfuse incorporate a mesh-nylon similar to low-quality steppiline sports uniforms.

result, you wear these in Seattle and the shoe acts as a water bucket. Water is allowed in and trapped by the synthetic structure. Traditional materials repel water (with added use of foam/spray on repellants) as well as breathe. Hyperfuse uses a combo of plastics and nylon. initially repelling water but then allowing it in through its breathing structure.

conclusion,…. Hyperfuse is nike’s way of justifying a more mechanized production process saving as much as 25% on their bottom line. Developed in part with their ODM, they can effectively eliminate entire sections of production lines where human skilled workers are needed. without the need for stitching, they also avoid the cost fluctuations of raw materials (cotton, leather).

For the consumer, an AF1 hyperfuse is absolutely ridiculous. You don’t use AF1′s for performance, therefore buying these already overpriced sneaks is for chumps. Hypebeast, I like your style, but hyperfuse is a performance product and this is a style website.

If you’re a dude who buys macbook pros as basically a facebook checker-thing, yeah, cop these. they for you.

Why don’t you just do what your name suggests and save us the effort.

I def fucks with these.  Sometimes you just need that loud color on the feet to offset the dull or colorless gear you have on.  Or at least thats what I plan to do with em.
