I strongly disagree with some your perspective on how one can achieve success. Success is determined by a variety of different factors; how can you just exclude skill and say that success is only achievable through social associations? Social connections are absolutely imperative, but you should never discount the pertinence of things like skill/aptitude, intelligence/character, luck (as in probability), money, etc. to success. And also, strictly defined, an artist is solely someone who creates something that can be interpreted as art, the intention is irrelevant. I am an artist my self, but i create art because i enjoy it and it popularizes me amongst ladies which directly affects how much pussy i get. If i wanted to express myself, I would choose a more efficient means of expression or communicating like speaking. Oh and what is and what isn’t art as well as how good/bad a creation is interpretable, if thats what you meant by “it’s entirely subjective”, unless you meant interpretation in general, in which case is entirely subjective.

Step up your networking skills and learn to make friends in high places. Being talented and handing out business cards is only going to get you so far, connecting with people in ways to make it a mutual benefit is just as important as the final product.
