For VERBAL and YOON, the duo have become a musical and fashion mainstay within Tokyo’s vibrant landscape. Prior, they each occupied different parts of the creative spectrum before coming together to launch AMBUSH DESIGN. Initially formed as a means for YOON to live and work in Japan, AMBUSH DESIGN has been characterized by its unique designs and details. We focused on the couple in their Tokyo studio to gain a better understanding of their brand AMBUSH DESIGN, their Western influences and how Tokyo plays a roll in their inspirations.

    even the best “designers” in the world study and reference things. that doesn’t make them less of designers. what matters is how they can make it new and fresh. ralph lauren and marc jacobs are notorious for copying from vintage and thrift stores, so does it make them less original? Ambush’s definitely onto something w/ their own flavor.

    1. It’s crazy to witness the evolution of Verbal from his M-Flo days in the late nineties to here and now. The dude obviously seems to have come a long way.
    2. Is that Ambush tee that said ‘Shocking and Morbidly Exciting!’ old, or yet to be released? That’s a must have.
    3. Showbiz and A.G. and Lootpack’s(!) first LP on vinyl? Straight stankin’ ill.
    4. Verbal could wear Lady Gaga’s stuff and make it look nice, all due to his self confidence/comfort in whatever he wears. I think quite a few people can learn from that.
