A helluva lot of money put into his Lego-stuff – the Mindstorms things alone cost a _lot_. The Lego hype seems to be growing faster and faster – not a bad thing though. Some creations just more innovative than others and Futura’s creations clearly the more innovative type.

Lenny is not on some hype shit with the Lego. If you’ve seen The Run Up DVD (circa 2004) You see him tinkering with the stuff already. That DVD was RELEASED in 2004 which means the footage could have atleast been 2003 or older. So that stuff is just manifesting now.

You people have to understand that this guy has been playing with Lego’s since Dee & Ricky were sperm.

This isn’t really a trend. Ricky and Dee perhaps are trending the lego, but artists have been working with lego for years going back to the early eighties when they made a replica lego cessna airplane. We all know about the lego ‘house’ and the lego ‘car’ . If you ever visit the lego headquarters, they have shapes and pieces not available to the general public. The details in these pieces are so intricate that you could fashion toast with lego crumbs and be amazed at how real it looks. Futura is NOT changing his medium he’s just doing what artists do and that is to be creative no matter the medium.

Definitely a whole game above what the Dee & Ricky duo are trying to pull. Still, I feel like there’s something lacking here… Kids growing up on these have been just as, if not more, innovative.

I didn’t even know there was this lego trend goin on. All i know is i used to play with the shit back in the day. It definitely has it’s own aesthetic which looks great infused with this technology. Nice to see it’s grown up with us. I know Lenny Chong obviously has had an interest in weapons and that militaristic style, it’s only fitting that he’s bossin’ this concept as well.

I made a Lego space station last weekend with my friends son, he is 3 years old.
Then we smashed it up and we both laughed hard. Lego is a fun toy not some new art media to be debated about by people who should really spend time playing with Lego.
They might learn something about themselves get out more people and do stuff.
Next week i think i might build a death camber fully kitted out with sonic laser guns
then capture some twats who write stupid shit online and slowly over a period of time do some global culling. (imagination people) that’s what it is about.
