Interesting to note that when the Obama shirt was posted on Hypebeast in November, the posts were almost unanimously negative, perhaps opinions are changing. Judging from the posts, Freshjive is a love or hate brand, and personally, I think FJ is doing a great job. So many brands are looking like clones, playing it safe and refusing to be original; big ups to Rick for designing what he wants, rather than jumping on trends.

I like a lot of the button up shirts and clothing, but, I wouldn’t wear them because of Fresh Jives/ Ricks attitude. I just can’t support or give my money to a company that has such low morals. It’s embarrassing to wear his stuff.

I think the Obama T is clever just because of the controversy it has/will cause. Everything else just looks semi-pro. I don’t know if that’s the look he’s going for but for me colours and Artwork is pretty poor… the LA T is extremely shit, looks like he drew it with his feet

I totally love Rick Klotz’s perspective on branding and his reasons for getting rid of the name and logo however the nameless rectangle with the boarder will simply replace Freshjive as the new logo. The only way to truely go “Brandless” is to have no lable at all! If you gonna do it go all the way.

As for some of these designs, I can appreciate the message and his need to use the brand to Rant and Vent his frustrations with our culture and the bullsh*t we see everyday but I agree with someone else in this thread, who said he doesnt do a good job of executing and the cut and sew does look kinds cheat.

I didn’t see Vito pull the race card anywhere, he was just stating a very serious fact. Health care reform dates back to the Regan days, he tried to push some legislation through and it didn’t pass. It wasn’t because America doesn’t need it, cause god knows we do. As for the matter at hand, this collection is in no way thoughtful. It’s just another great business man preying on pop coulture’s ignorance. I”m not questioning his business savy, but come on…He could’ve come much hard than this. Might be stacking apples against oranges here… but in comparison to the recent UNDFTD collection, this is what streetwear needs. Not a regular crewneck with a logo screened on the front; but rather some wild, provacative, head-turning ideas infused into the clothing. I’m not asking for LOUD, but I do want BOLD. Sublte, but not quiet. The same ideas that charged streetwear a few years ago should be the same ones that continue to present themselves in the brands and clothing today. Maturity in lasting brands is more than welcomed- but I’d love to entertain the idea that maturity means coming up with more intelligent, elegant ways to express your most radical ideas… not growing old, stale, and anti-fun.
