umm….everyone keeps talking about Activision biting Konami. No one remembers Guitar Freaks…and maybe all of 20 people know about Beatmania.

It’s a video game…fall back people. It’s not that serious.

wow – so many haters. must be djs who are trying to blow this up. find something else to hate on, pls. this is excellent.

What you mean “be black” ?
You sound stupid, and FYI i am black.
    Just SHUT UP northwest scholar

  7. Posted by: Matt on May 11, 2009 at 8:36 am

I can already guess this game will have nothing but Akon and Nelly style wackness and no proper listenable hip hop.
Hated Guitar Hero, so this ain’t gonna be any better.
The controller looks stupid. It’s far more fun to actually make real music than pretend in a game. This can be done for free on a standard computer very easily.

  8. Posted by: ST[R]BOY D on May 11, 2009 at 2:08 am

Go ahead buy the game. Play it alllllll u like. Then go try it at a club, and watch u get ur a$$ beat for f–king up the party I just paid $30 2 get into.

  9. Posted by: northwest scholar on May 11, 2009 at 1:30 am

Just another thing that ruins an art and causes people to be lazy and settle for less than the real thing.
Also, snobby white kids who wanna be black will just think this is another thing that will get the street cred. Just another thing that will let people be uncreative and think that they are creative.

Idk if this has already been posted but :

In the May 2009 issue of GameInformer, in the “Previews” section they’re is a game called “Scratch: The Ultimate DJ” hopefully gonna be released this Summer. The developer is 7 Studios, and the publisher is Genius Products. The game will have artists like Kanye West, The Gorillaz, Beastie Boys, and Eric B. and Rakim. Mix Master Mike (of Beastie Boys/Scratch Picklz fame) is advising on technical issues, and Quincy Jones III will also be advising. The peripherals include a tunrtable with “guitar-hero” like button layouts, but will also include a cross-fader, which allows sound manipulation during songs. It’s gonna be for XBox 360, and PS3. Check out the latest GameInformer for the article.

Sounds like this one ^^^ is going to blow the “DJ Hero” away. But you never know, guess we’ll see.

    zack

This might not be getting released, they bit the idea of a company called Scratch, they are being took to court now for it.

  16. Posted by: Kenji on May 10, 2009 at 3:15 am

Fuckin wack…first Activision rips off Konami’s Guitar Freaks, and now they’re trying to get in on Beatmania too. Let me guess what’s next: “Pop Hero,” a music game played with large bubble-like buttons.

  17. Posted by: lol on May 9, 2009 at 7:56 pm

    HEROIN HERO!! or TRIANGLE HERO!!

beat mania is the name of the game, konami made it,

  22. Posted by: Shop.412 on May 9, 2009 at 12:05 pm

I DJ on the regular, the last thing I need is for stupid girls to request Britney Spears and now say DJ’ing isn’t hard and they could do it…I’d just rather have them not be in the “know” or think they know what wires go where. HA

  23. Posted by: Vincent on May 9, 2009 at 8:30 am

    so cool ~~~~~

  24. Posted by: Jimkins on May 8, 2009 at 10:48 pm

I kinda don’t think this is gonna be fun. activision is as large a corporation as there is in the videogame development industry. they bought guitar hero from harmonix and didn’t exactly take it to new heights. I smell gimmicky flop. go ahead prove me wrong.

  25. Posted by: hold up on May 8, 2009 at 10:41 pm

wait so bbc can put a spaceman emblem on a turd and the internet goes nuts, but if this comes out everyone is blackin out? this isnt going to make anyone think they’re a dj it’s just a passtime you know like camping out to lick kanye’s sack outside the louis vuitton store

  26. Posted by: hurk on May 8, 2009 at 9:56 pm

    p p DJs

  27. Posted by: Pjack on May 8, 2009 at 9:43 pm

Why are so many people hating on this? I been waiting for it, its just a video game, simply for entertainment. Nobody is going to trash the music industry with there plastic turntable and guitar. Its just FYE( for your entertainment). It will also open a lot of other people who wouldn’t normally listen to hip hop to lend a ear for a sec.

  28. Posted by: jaystar on May 8, 2009 at 8:29 pm

can’t wait to see this one

  29. Posted by: A King's Ransom on May 8, 2009 at 8:08 pm

Quickstiker, dude, you gotsta chill. People play video games to have fun. It’s a form of entertainment. Learning a skill like playing guitar or DJ’ing is a long and tedious process, and doesn’t serve the same purpose. According to your logic, if I spent 8 hours a day actually practicing throwing a football instead of playing Madden all day, I could probably play in the NFL one day, right? Come on man.

  30. Posted by: chillin on May 8, 2009 at 7:27 pm

    stop hating, this is dope.
    Its just a game everyone
    chill out.

  31. Posted by: gimme a break on May 8, 2009 at 6:22 pm

“Great now even more people will think they are real DJs”

Exactly. This is just horrible. Too many people already think they are DJ’s because they have a laptop and a few MP3’s. Now we are going to have a bunch of fuckheads all thinkin’ they can rock clubs now. Wonderful. Not to mention it looks cheap and is probably boring to play. Video game nerds need to stick to video games…leave MUSIC to the professionals!

    Serato x Activision x Technics

  33. Posted by: Alex on May 8, 2009 at 6:15 pm

anytime things work out for artists, activision come and screw everything with a HERO that turn anything into travesty, and its gonna be the same with DJs

  34. Posted by: thai on May 8, 2009 at 5:57 pm

real djs don’t do it for the chicks. LOL

  35. Posted by: theboywonder on May 8, 2009 at 5:38 pm

sweet!! now i can become a real dj becasue dj hero will teach me to become a real dj just like guitar hero taught me to play guitar. and then i can be like “ah dj heroes for lames” because i’m a real dj.

  36. Posted by: TiestoLEGEN D on May 8, 2009 at 5:19 pm

Actually, there is a game where you can pretend to be a DJ, it’s kinda dumbed-down and simplified, the game does most of it for you- it’s kinda a simple rhythm game.

The good news is that there are loads of controllers for it, and a new version that came out last year, with improved graphics. However, it’s still a bit bit unstable, and it has something of a crazy trainspotter fanbase.

Quickstriker is right, if you spend hours a day playing with a game like this, it won’t make you a DJ, but it’s a lot cheaper than buying proper tables or CDJs.

The system requirements are relatively modest, so if you want to play Traktor Pro, it’s available online, or from specialist vendors.

  37. Posted by: djaniquinn on May 8, 2009 at 5:15 pm

    Dope.. white labels .

This is retarded, just like guitar hero & rockband.

On the plus side, at least the game sales will provide additional publishing residuals to the artists who’s music is featured ….

  38. Posted by: Quickstriker on May 8, 2009 at 4:53 pm

I guess if you spend 8 hours a day actually practicing to DJ rather than 8-15 hours a day on DJ Hero you might actually be a good DJ. Same with Guitar Hero. I’m sure if you dedicated some hours actually learning to play guitar rather than playing video games all day you actually get chicks.

  39. Posted by: Dep on May 8, 2009 at 4:42 pm

This shit is wack as fuck……just like guitar hero….

    this is silly

  47. Posted by: Thierry Henry on May 8, 2009 at 1:41 pm

This isn’t new. Konami came out with the Bemani series 12 years ago which included a game called Beatmania. The game consisted of a turntable and 5 buttons. Object of the game was to follow the keys on the screen and stay on beat when the corresponding key hit the red line. Nothing revolutionary about this.

I’ve been waiting for a DJ game to hit the PS3 Platform, it’s been a long time coming since beatmania. But DJ “HERO”? I think another name would be better.
