Under the careful watch of a star-studded and influential cast, the likes of Kanye West, Jean Nouvel, Ines de la Fressange, Marc Newson, Sir Ken Adam and Stefano Pilati factored in for Wallpaper*’s Design Awards 2009. The categories include the best new domestic appliance, new restaurant, new private house, new or renovated hotel, new public building, city, men’s fashion collection, women’s fashion collection, new grooming product as well as most life-enhancing product and furniture designer of the year.     umm.. kanye is an artist.. (not talking about his music) a while back I think VHI or MTV were doing a documentary on mr. west and during this doc.. when his mom was alive she showed some of his work to the camera and it was beautiful!! this man has talents in the visual arts as well.. you idiots!!

    stew you are right. fashion is just like art sometimes. you are not supposed to get it, it’s not supposed to make sense. the more it fits into those two categories the better it’s supposed to be. i guess………..

    that amount of love 4 art n fashion thats like all he talks about n all the shows n stuff he goes 2

    Agreed Desp One. Way too overated and overhyped. I think he creates most of it himself, and all the sheeple follow. Which he does deserve some credit for. Booo on Wallpaper for this decision! I’m cancelling my subscription!!

    Damn Kanye is way too over rated, he is not such a great rapper, definitely not an MC. He does make some good beats thats pretty much it. I don’t really see how he can be a judge on something that does not concern him or his work sphere.

    I love what Kanye does. His music, style..all that…on a daily basis his blog comments on contemporary design, but he doesnt critique anythng, he just judges everything merely on aesthetics. Having him judge on a Wallpaper* panel for the ‘best design of 2008′ is a pretty big kick in the balls to all design critics out there imo. He’ll no doubt boost the Wallpaper* brand though.
