“popular culture reinterpret in art form is pop art.. but in a subject so done by all artists makes this mediocre…its kaws making money, not kaws making a statement. ands thats what makes it kinda lame. its no damion hirst. but then again its candy art for H&M customers”

The last thig the world is another art school dropout trying to be an art critic. It’s Kaws and it’s Star Wars. It doesn’t have to make some kind of statement. and name dropping damien hirst doesn’t and to you “art” credibility. maybe you should read up on Dali, Picasso, Pollack, Dumas, Basquiat or Kahlo. Until then log out of life.

Well I have to get this. My vader needs a crew. Hopefully he does a boba fett and a emperors royal guard in the future. Sad thing about these is I sold collection of over 100 carded star wars figures for less then what these go for haha.

Good concept but much better artists out there that deserve to be noticed more than a guy who does X’s and crossed bones

i dont know about Kaws, i like his work, but i gotta agree with Insider, Kaws needs to do something different, i know the xxs are his trademark, but it wouldnt hurt to change it up

KAWS is legendary in the game and respect is due. You may not like all of his work but his design infusion into various pop culture symbols is ill. I grew up with Star Wars being born in 79 and I love this figure! It will be hard to obtain…….

i’m starting to realize that the real reason i hate kaws so much is the fact that i can never seem to obtain any of his Companion Collectibles…be it the colored, half-tone, all black, neon colored, bronzed, darth vader,..shit, all of em’…argghhh…

  13. Posted by:Insider on September 20, 2008 at 6:53 pm

Respect for what he’s done in the past, but honestly, he should really challenge himself as an artist. This shit is sleep inducing. KAWS is no longer making any statement as an artist. And as a brand, as boring as Shepard Fairy. A shame.

lol. your hating on Kaws… you live a sad life.

Wow WG…you sound angry. That’s what Kaws does though. He takes otherwise normal things and adds his trademark XXs and bones to them. All of his artwork and vinyl is the same way. If you are holding your breath for something new you might pass out. I think the storm trooper is Cool. I don’t have any Kaws companions but i would like to see if i could get this one.

  18. Posted by:WGMeets on September 20, 2008 at 2:39 pm

Oh I see what you did here. You added XX’s and that bone thing you do. That sooo makes a difference. Just let me know when you got something new, not rehashed.
