For the 2008 fall/winter collection, Ato Matsumoto has offered an updated version of their Velcro Zip High Top originally seen earlier this year. Although the color schemes are roughly the same, Matsumoto goes about things in more subtle fashion ditching the patent leathers for regular full-grain leather. Hidden behind a Velco-fastened strap is a vertical zipper. Available now at Rowgage.

    people just make vulcanized sneakers cos they are cheap. I like the concept but the upper could have definitely had less chuck like stylings.

    I actually like it. I don’t know if I’d drop 5 for them like everyone did on his last design, but these are cool.

    i dont’ understand how these designers want so much money for a copy. for me originality sells. i don’t want to have to explain that my shoes are ato and not converse. i want you to see them and be like, “those are ato matsumoto’s!”

    i hear you tjholmes. i’m pretty sick of the chuck rip-offs. Chucks, af1’s, dunks, etc. There is so much you can do with a sneaker, i refuse to buy stuff that just looks like a different colorway from an established company. damn bape for popularizing plagiarism.

    Chucks with velcro on the back…its sad cuz this brand was really original.
