Neck Face “Cannibal Carnival”

August 15, 2008Uncategorizedby Eugene Kan209 Views

Under the pretense of “Cannibal Carnival”, prolific artist Neck Face is in the midst of setting up his latest exhibit in California. Taking over West Hollywood’s New Image Art Gallery, the show features new works of art which incorporate Neck Face’s all too familiar depiction of morbidity and gore, juxtaposed against the usual styling associated with carnivals. For Neck Face the inspirations revolve around his desire to remove the social context of certain images to create all new meanings such as taking clowns out of their usual domain in the circus and placing them in unfamiliar situations. Furthermore, the exhibit’s opening night will feature skaters Sammy Baca and Lizard King as they skate in a caged-off mini ramp amongst knives, spray paint and booze. The show begins August 16th and runs until September 20th.

He should do children’s books. Seriously. Imagine if he had illustrated “Where The Wild Things Are”… I’m sure he’s already gotten offers, but he should just go ahead and do it.
