kanye west pastelle preview 1 Kanye Wests New Line Pastelle Preview

While Kanye West has long been considered a style icon, the fashion world eagerly anticipates Kanye’s own aesthetic in the upcoming launch of his own brand Pastelle. A preview recently surfaced in VMAN as a star studded cast including Rihanna and Lupe Fiasco model upcoming pieces from the Pastelle collection. With accomplished designer Kim Jones (formerly of Umbro by Kim Jones) at the helm, the final product should arguably be another success for Kanye West.

I don’t understand why people are so keen on Kanye: to my mind he’s an okay-to-mediocre pop (not hip-hop) producer, a lame rapper and an incredibly arrogant snob douchebag who takes fashion and himself way, way, way too seriously (look at that face he’s pulling in the last picture while dressed like a bad clown who shops at Gap). I preferred it when rappers dressed in XXXXXXXXXXL tees, giant jeans, 3 hats, ludicrous medallions and a pair of Timbos - they still looked ridiculous, but at least they looked ridiculous in their own brilliant way instead of trying to dress like an ageing bisexual poet. Look at that first picture, it looks like when they dress a baby up in a tiny suit for a wedding. Oh and the name Pastelle would be just about okay if it was a clothing line for 65-year-old women on cruise ships.

That damned denim button up is completely unforgiveable from any standpoint. He might as well have on tights with all over print and a oshkosh jumper on. The 2 dumbest aspects of that is that stupid serious face he’s wearing to match his joke of an ensemble and then #2 the fact that some of you pukes will probably think that’s cool. There is no way that streetwear fashionistas and general fashion heads find that stonewashed denim shirt to be acceptable.

1st of all this nigga has on a fucking Denim Button-up, with a bow-tie, like really?!

I like the Rihanna hoodie. Everything else is meh to me. The jeans are nice but alot of this stuff looks like something you find at any Walmart (the denim-ish button up looks some Faded Glory my mom bought me in 2nd grade) or any store that sells suits.

Wow some people really need to read on Pastelle! Kanye has been working on this for a few years now. Pastelle ISNT street wear, its high end apparel that can be worn how u want it to be worn. If people havent noticed kanye is into high end product but wears it how he wants it to be worn, hes into street fashion as well but brings it to a new level that people cant grasp on and call him a “hypebeast”… Also pastelle is only going to be in 5 places as of right now, NY, LA, London, Paris, and Tokyo (heard from a few sources). So be on the look out for high prices but good things!

he’s trying to bring fashion that has been high end to the streets. by being a rapper that dresses in crap that looks exactly like higher end cltohing lines. now everybody is gonna try to rock bowties and crap. that shit was done 5 years ago.

  12. Posted by: inspectah derek on August 19, 2008 at 3:42 am

    bow ties are officially IN

  13. Posted by: Samis° on August 19, 2008 at 12:46 am

Btw The only piece I could get a could feel for was the hoodie Rihanna was wearing, and it looked really nice. I can’t really speak on what Kanye and Lupe are wearing because of the poor picture quality, With all that said I wish Kanye and co. would have featured some up and coming models instead of celeb friends. Nothing really wrong with his choice, but I think it helps give others chances and relies less on celeb marketability…

“LOL! I think we know what color people are going to be rocking this CRAP!” -hellomynameisundefeated- Actually I don’t know what color people are going to be wearing “that crap”, so when you get some free time please fill us in.

and not to mention im not really feelin’ that hoodie? whats soo special pink and white and yellow stripes? oooooo. not a hater just dont see how this is ground breaking. but we shall see. i love kanye and i love his style. i just dont think his stuff is going to be worth the price point. esp. if hes gonna follow in ice cream/bbc

  16. Posted by: kid kash on August 18, 2008 at 11:43 pm

this shit will be over priced and hell do what pharelle did with icecream make in boutiques online and not mainstrain. giving that “rare” appeal.

  17. Posted by: madvillain24 on August 18, 2008 at 10:36 pm

The price points will be crazy because he’s going to try to simultaneously compete with high-end streetwear and fashion brands. By looking at this very limited preview, I think he’s trying to do too much by marketing to completely different lifestyles. Off of the top of my head, I don’t know of too many clothing lines that succesfully appeals to people who are into streetwear and those that are into fashion as well.

I like the 2 button blazer. The lapels are a bit wider than what’s going on now, but they look classic. Like a cut Sinatra would wear. Nice work. http://www.myspace.com/jacobtheproducer
