Michelle Yeoh Returns as Philippa Georgiou in ‘Star Trek: Section 31’ Trailer
Yeoh leads a clandestine defense arm of Starfleet.
At San Diego Comic-Con, Paramount released the first trailer for the upcoming movie Star Trek: Section 31. The film offers a closer look at Star Trek‘s Section 31, a secret division of Starfleet responsible for protecting the United Federation of Planets.
Michelle Yeoh stars as Philippa Georgiou, an Emperor of the Terran Empire. After a failed coup, she’s brought to the Prime Universe to serve as a captain, following which, she’s recruited to join Section 31 as an operative.
The movie builds off of Star Trek: Discovery TV series, where Yeoh is seen captaining the USS Shenzhou. In her new role helming the underground Starfleet division, Georgiou must not only protect the planets but also “must face the sins of her past.”
Starring alongside Yeoh are Omari Hardwick, Kacey Rohl, Sam Richardson, Sven Ruygrok, Robert Kazinsky, Humberly Gonzalez and James Hiroyuki Liao. Olatunde Osunsanmi is directing a script written by Craig Sweeny.
The teaser for the film previews a montage of action-packed scenes, from speed racing through space to Georgiou engaged in hand-to-hand combat.
Star Trek: Section 31 is scheduled to debut next year and will be available to stream on Paramount+.
