Admiral Sporting Goods References Iconic Sporting Moments for FW23
Drawing inspiration from Geoff Hurst’s World Cup-winning goal from 1966.
Admiral Sporting Goods has just presented its latest collection for Fall/Winter 2023 and it pays homage to Geoff Hurst’s World Cup-winning goal from 1966 when England won its first-ever World Cup trophy, along with a slew of iconic sporting moments that have stayed with fans well beyond the final whistle.
Hurst’s World Cup-winning goal in 1966 was commentated by Kenneth Wolstenholme, with his iconic “Not Yet Finished” line being the main point of inspiration and name for Admiral’s new collection. With this in mind, Admiral, Britain’s oldest sportswear manufacturer, has produced its new line with pointers that lean into vintage sportswear, built for contemporary wardrobes.
Collection highlights come in the form of the new Made In England Conway Knitwear, which has been hit with a melange of seasonally-appropriate colors. Additionally, Admiral Sporting Goods has unveiled a new take on its Rugby jersey, drawing from Admiral’s archive and adopting features — such as the sharp and clean-cut collars — to allow the designs to stand as casual pieces that can be dressed up or down easily.
Meanwhile, details such as rubberized buttons remain as a cornerstone throughout the collection, pinned across further rugby jerseys. Drawcords are then wax-dipped and seams are covered with stitches designed with enhanced durability, while the collection’s pocket placement is used to keep silhouettes understated yet technically-inclined with hidden compartments for daily items.
You can take a closer look at the new collection from Admiral Sports Goods above and it will be available to shop via the brand’s official website from August 16.
