Electronics giant Sony, run by president and CEO Kazuro Hirai, has often been associated with cutting edge of consumer products. While groups within the Sony Group entail music, movies and financials, it’s the electronics segment that has held its own with innovative research and development sectors. Two developments in both gaming and photography equipment earned Sony high marks, namely with the QX100 lens camera and significant leaps in quality and size with the full-frame A7 and A7R E-mount bodies. The PlayStation 4 also dropped in mid-November from Sony to the chagrin of Xbox fans, as the PS4 undercut the Microsoft-powered gadget by $100, on top of being first to hit the market with mostly positive reviews.
