Less than half a week before the grand opening of Stussy Toronto, the fourth new launch of its kind for Stussy this year. Up until now, the store’s decor had been kept tightly under wraps. Stussy Toronto organizer and initiator of the project, Matt George has unveiled pictures of the store. The interior is marked by a series of wood flooring throughout the store against clean white walls and fixtures. Also seen here is the special t-shirt commemorating the opening of Stussy Toronto, with the slogan . The joint Stussy Toronto and Goodfoot 5th Anniversary event will go down March 18th, however Stussy Toronto will open up March 15th. For more details check here.
In a recent blog post from TK (of Hong Kong lifestyle group SiLLY THING), he speaks of an upcoming Medicom Toy Bearbrick exhibition set to take place in China’s capital next month. Maybe its something Olympic related? The only detail TK revealed was a blank Bearbrick template however the concept seems similar to the project initiated by Nike South East Asia to commemorate the Windrunner. Stay tuned for more details on this artist exhibition.
Stussy flagship stores have opened one after another these past few months. From Las Vegas all the way to South Korea, new Stussy stores have popped up on the global map. The newest addition to the Stussy madness is the new flagship store in Toronto, Canada. To celebrate this event as well as the 5th anniversary of the sneaker boutique, Goodfoot, there will be a party held at the Reign. DJ Clark Kent will be in town to provide the music so better not miss out if you’re in town!

In its 4th season, the Puma Table Tennis Tournament has become synonymous with overly competitive industry people at each other’s throats with both company pride and industry bragging rights on the line. For the 2008 PT3 edition, the tournament is leaving its original Chinatown roots and taking over The powerHouse Arena in Brooklyn. The formidable cast of participants include Formavision, NY Times, Nom De Guerre, Google, Comedy Central, joao, Flavorpill, rude, Staple Design, Shop Architects, Theme Magazine and Psyop. Winners this year will take home a Puma Glow in the Dark Bike and afforded the opportunity to design a Mongolian BBQ Puma Basket. It’s unfortunate HYPEBEAST will not be in attendance as we know Chinese people are only good at three things, kung-fu, mathematics and ping-pong. To celebrate the 15th anniversary of A Bathing Ape, Nigo has decided to host the “World Wide Bape Heads Show” in Hong Kong. You know you’re going to have a killer show when you have musicians including Kanye West, Pharrell’s N.E.R.D, and Nigo’s Teriyaki Boyz all performing on one stage. Responsible for the setup of this event are the folks at Silly Thing. The show will take place on April 10th while the tickets will be on sale starting March 17th. Definitely not a event to miss out on.

Leftfoot out of Singapore played host this past weekend as an exhibition celebrating the 20th Anniversary of the New Balance 576 took place. Encompassing other important models and New Balance collabos, the event had well over 200 pairs of sneakers on deck with an accompaniment of music, food and booze and a live showcase by Asian graffiti artist Jahan.

2008 marks a pivotal year for Stussy as they open a total of four stores in the first half of the year. Unbeknown to us was a further compliment to the store total coming via Stussy Seoul which opened up on February 29th. The Seoul retail landscape will welcome another interesting store front via 10 Corso Como Seoul, which is set to open March 21st, 2008.

On March 15th, Nike will host The Power of ONE Charity Show at the U Lam Terrace in Hong Kong. Artists including Devilrobots, Michael Lau, Phunk Studio, Garageworks, Jellymon, Metalwing and Groovisions will contribute their vision of “HOPE” onto a 6 by 6 canvas. The artwork will be sold off in an silent auction and proceeds will go to the Playwright foundation which helps children through act of play. If you’re in town, be sure to check out this event and buy some artwork.

One of the new Stussy stores to open this year is the flagship store in Las Vegas which recently had its opening party on March 7th. A large crowd of both industry and non-industry folks showed up to have some drinks and listen to Just Blaze spin. The new flagship store is located right next to Undefeated so it will be easy to find for those who have been there. If not, here’s the address.

The world’s largest touring sneaker show, Sneaker Pimps will be traveling south of the border next week, with a stop at the Vive Cuervo Salon in Mexico City on March 13th. The event boasts live music performances by the Wallabee Champ Ghostface Killah, Dr Octagon (aka Kool Keith) and DJ Muggs. Within the next few hours, two influential members of the Japanese fashion world, Tetsu Nishiyama of WTAPS and Shinsuke Takizawa of Neighborhood will open the doors to their Hoods venture. Hoods will act as a haven for both Neighborhood and WTAPS products as both brands establish themselves in their first venture outside of Japan. We recently had a chance to check out the space occupying a spot on the quaint little On Lan Street in Hong Kong’s Central district. The store, much like the surrounding spaces are long and narrow and encompass multiple floors and provides a sort of equilibrium effect with its immediate neighbors BBC | Ice Cream. A special exhibition involving custom tees is on display as part of the Previously Opening Exhibition taking place tomorrow until the stores opening April 1st. Currently the only items for sale include the Hoods Hong Kong “Bombers” t-shirt, retailing for $499 HKD (approximately $64 USD).
