Description
Hideki “Hue” Kimura is a Japanese designer and the founder of streetwear label Deluxe. Born in Tokyo in 1972, Kimura met BEDWIN & THE HEARTBREAKERS founder and childhood friend Masafumi Watanabe in elementary school, and developed an affinity for street fashion of music subcultures such as hip-hop in high school.
At 23, Kimura began working at a fashion store, and once he decided on fashion as a career, he moved to New York at age 27 in 1999 where he would live for four years.
Having gained knowledge on the streetwear and hip-hop influences prevalent in American culture at the time, Kimura returned to Tokyo in 2003 to found DLX Co. Ltd with Watanabe, under which Kimura began the Deluxe label. He cites his main influences as being ‘80s American pop and counter culture, hip-hop music and mid-century tailoring.
