HAVEN Sits Down with Deluxe's Hideki "HUE" Kimura

Known for his attention to detail and contemporary updates to 20th century classics, designer Hideki “HUE” Kimura is responsible for setting Japanese label Deluxe apart from the pack. The influential founder and designer recently sat down with HAVEN for the Edmonton-based retailer’s latest video interview segment. Aptly titled “The Street Tailor” as a nod to HUE’s tagline, the piece sees the soft-spoken creative reflecting on Tokyo’s fashion scene, American pop culture of the 1980s, his years living in New York City, and the origins of Deluxe and the brand’s balance of both streetwear and high-fashion influences – a juxtaposition now commonplace amongst labels and a movement that was, in many ways, led by Deluxe at the forefront.
