In many ways, Kim Jones saved his 2019 highlight for the very end of the year. After beginning the year unveiling Dior’s Fall/Winter 2019 collection in Paris, complete with a Raymond Pettibon collaboration, Jones then tapped Shawn Stussy for the Pre-Fall 2020 artist collaboration. In addition to debuting the Stussy-designed pieces, the show also saw confirmation of one of the year’s hottest rumors: a Dior Air Jordan 1 OG.
Other highlights of Jones’ year included the launch of Dior’s Hajime Sorayama Pre-Fall 2019 collection, the arrival of a book celebrating his year at the house and a new collaboration with RIMOWA. Between the Jordan collaboration and Jones’ other endeavors, 2019 reinforced Dior’s position as one of the world’s most exciting labels, and confirmed Jones’ reputation as a pioneer bridging the gap between luxury and streetwear.
