Junya Watanabe’s Spring/Summer 2020 show in Paris marked another big year for the Japanese designer. As well as working with regular collaborators including New Balance, Carhartt and Levi’s, Watanabe also partnered with a range of less-expected collaborators. The collection featured capsules ranging from cult London restaurant St. John to the Amsterdam Tulip Museum and critical magazine Real Review. Earlier in the year, Watanabe also made headlines with his “Silver Swagger” show in Paris, which saw a host of older models take the runway. As well as his stand-out shows, 2019 also saw a string of eye-catching releases from Watanabe including a collaboration with military specialist Ark Air, a The North Face jacket with a built-in backpack and a string of New Balance sneakers for Fall/Winter 2019.
