Junya Watanabe’s 2018 was a return to what he and the brand do best — functionality meets intricacy in design. His Junya Watanabe MAN and eponymous work landed partnerships with outerwear brands The North Face and Canada Goose this year, both of which highlighting bold graphics, vibrant coloring details technical aesthetics for the un-subtle stylists. Perhaps the most striking addition to 2018’s garments was his collaborative project with both The North Face and Karrimor, creating a backpack jacket that would make even the most hardcore of travelers/backpackers/outdoorsmen/fashionistas green with envy. Nevertheless, jacket fanatics were in for a treat from the Japanese designer in 2018, and must be eagerly awaiting the upcoming months and efforts in 2019 from Junya Watanabe.
