Profile

Achievement

Stretching all the way back to its establishment in 1998, Hirofumi Kiyonaga’s SOPH. has been an important pillar of Japanese streetwear. The label houses three lines: SOPHNET, F.C.R.B. and uniform experiment, which is co-led by Hiroshi Fujiwara. Marking SOPH.’s 20th anniversary, this year saw a bevy of bold capsules that embodied Kiyonaga’s unique interpretation of football culture and technical fabrics. One highlight was a collaboration with F.C. Real Bristol and READYMADE, which packed a slew of modular pieces that spanned everything from water-resistant zip-ups to smiley-face-flame emblazoned anoraks. Another noteworthy collaboration was with ZERO HALLIBURTON on a silver watch case, offering a luxe lifestyle accessory to round up the year. Kiyonaga’s influence on Tokyo streetwear continues to make headway with SOPH., reaching beyond the nation and inspiring today’s stylish youth worldwide.
