Where does one begin with Donatella Versace? There’s a bevy of talented creative directors at the head of various legacy fashion houses, but Donatella is in a league of her own as the leader of a bonafide fashion empire. Versace has never strayed from its glamorous roots under Donatella’s direction, but the label has remained relevant due to her ability to meld the Versace aesthetic with new trends and models. 2019 began with a splashy collaboration with KITH, but Donatella’s biggest moment of the year came when she revisited an old favorite. For her September fashion show, Donatella invited Jennifer Lopez, fresh off plenty of Hustlers buzz, to strut down the runway in a reworked version of her signature 2000 Grammys Versace jungle gown, creating one of the most viral social media moments of the year. We couldn’t think of a better way to cap off a decade of Versace than that.
