Collaborations with Asics, Reebok and Kappa were just some of the biggest highlights this year for Angelo Baque and his brand Awake NY. The designer, who also heads his own creative agency, focused his efforts on further defining the New York-centric, socially conscious vision of his streetwear line. These efforts included releasing a tee that supported migrant rights, emblazoning a pre-9/11 Twin Towers graphic on a coat for SS19 and dropping a Black History month-focused capsules. In an industry that’s so product-focused, Baque is determined in continuing genuine conversations between brand and customer. Needless to say, Awake NY is on a steady pace to breakout further beyond its streetwear identity in the coming years.
