A Bathing Ape, also known as BAPE, is a Japanese streetwear brand founded in 1993 by NIGO. It encompasses men’s, women’s and children’s clothing, as well as a variety of accessories and lifestyle items. In 2011, it was announced that Hong Kong-based fashion conglomerate I.T Group purchased the brand for $2.8 million USD, and by 2013 NIGO had stepped down from the brand’s creative helm.

Latest Collections
Here’s the latest from Bape set to release this weekend at Bape Hong Kong. For those unsold on the Shark hoodie, another t-shirt version has become available incorporating Baby Milo. Continuing with the kiddie graphics are some more solid cut & sew pieces from Bape in the form of chambray button ups, polos, gingham button ups and pants. Also featured in this week’s releases are some accessories such as hanging plush toys and pouches. Dropping this Saturday, May 31st.

Before we’ve shown you the DS collaboration between Bape and Nintendo, now the gold version has finally been released. This DS Lite is completely gold with a white monogram pattern that features both brands signature characters, Baby Milo and Mario. A Bathing Ape has released an all new Bapesta which is predominately white in color but features a “Milo Monogram” on the upper. Fun and simple, these Bapestas are now available at the Bapexclusive store located in Aoyama, Japan.
Bape has given their two most popular footwear styles the Roadsta and Bapesta the metallic treatment in this latest pack of sneakers. Using gold and silver, the uppers of the sneaker are made of metallic leather with little in the way of contrasting colors. Available now at Cliffedge.
New from the Japanese brand, A Bathing Ape, comes a series of three new denim Bapesta sneakers. Utilizing denim and a stripe pattern, these new Bapestas also feature the Ape logo as well as a rope “A Bathing Ape” logo on the back of the shoe. Bape’s 2008 Spring/Summer collection and its May 17th releases will include the following from the well known Japanese streetwear brand. Several of Bape’s iconic designs and logos undergo a series of different prints from camo to plaid. The weekend drop will also include various accessories including Bape towels, earrings, rings and watches.

New from A Bathing Ape comes this “Teriyaki Source” t-shirt. The tee which will be limited to only the Shibuya Bape store is inspired by Bape’s own music group, the Teriyaki Boyz. The tees come in four colors and are now available at Cliffedge. If you’re a fan of the Teriyaki Boyz, this is a definite pick up.
Bape’s transition into summer is in full effect with these upcoming releases this week at Bape Hong Kong. The updated stock and impending warm weather is reflected in two styles of shorts in both plaid and floral patterns. Other items feature a hat and t-shirts. Having released some Godfather inspired items a couple weeks back, BAPE is set to release this tee featuring the Vito Corleone character (played by Marlon Brando in the original Godfather film). Similar to the Scarface collaboration from awhile back this tee also comes with limited edition branded leather box and champagne bottle. The t-shirt is set to release on May 28th at Bapexclusive.
Back in 2002, Stash was invited to the “Tools of the Trade” art exhibition which took place at the Bape Gallery. At that time, these Bape x Recon Spray Can pillows were created for that event and was much sought after. Now, six years later, Recon has re-released these pillows in three colors. Standing at 30 inches in length and 10 inches in diameter, these pillows are now available at the Recon store.
Bape, the ever-expanding empire of Nigo, has just released some news for its New York store. It seems that they are now taking phone orders for their current season collection over the weekends, which is great news for all those people having a hard time getting their hands on anything Bape. The policy remains the same as their in-store policy with no returns, no exchanges, and no refunds. All the orders taken over the weekend will be shipped the next business day.
