Summary
The NFL introduces 'COLOR FIELD,' a new initiative turning football fields into large-scale art installations.
Jammie Holmes will debut the project beneath the Eiffel Tower in Paris during Art Basel Paris.
The initiative will continue at Miami Art Week this December with a new artist installation and cultural programming.
The NFL is bringing contemporary art onto the field with ‘COLOR FIELD,’ a new initiative under its Artist Replay program that turns football fields into large-scale art installations.
Curated in partnership with Jasmine Martin of Pivotal Arts, the project will debut in Paris during art week in the city before heading to Miami in December.
Louisiana-born artist Jammie Holmes will lead the first installation, adapting his 2024 painting ‘Untitled’ into a hand-painted end zone beneath the Eiffel Tower. Depicting a child emerging from morning glory flowers, the work reflects on childhood, family and the passage of time. Produced in New York by six muralists and a field specialist, the installation also holds personal meaning for Holmes, whose great-grandfather was stationed in France during World War I.
“There’s something powerful about bringing a piece of Louisiana and Saints fandom to Paris, especially knowing that my own family’s history stretches across both places,” Holmes shared.
The installation will be on view October 23 and 24 at NFL Experience Paris, ahead of the Pittsburgh Steelers and New Orleans Saints game on October 25. Additional programming includes artist talks, flag football sessions and community events.
‘COLOR FIELD’ will then make its way to Miami Art Week, with a new artist installation and programming to be announced.
