Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios have officially unveiled the trailer and key art for The Greatest, marking the first authorized scripted series chronicling the life and legacy of Muhammad Ali.
Created and executive produced by showrunner Ben Watkins (Cross), the eight-episode drama traces the coming-of-age journey of a young Cassius Clay. Set against the landscape of a rapidly changing America, the narrative follows his personal, professional, and political battles inside and outside the ring, exploring the championship bouts and deep moral convictions that transformed the young fighter from Louisville into a global cultural icon.
Newcomer Jaalen Best stars in the dual role of Cassius Clay and Muhammad Ali, joined by a veteran supporting cast. Omari Hardwick portrays Cassius Clay Sr., Dana Gourrier steps in as Odessa “Bird” Clay, and Kai Parham appears as Rudy Clay. The ensemble also features Amin Joseph as Sonny Liston, Giovanni Ribisi as Angelo Dundee, and Michael Ealy as Malcolm X.
The production was developed in close coordination with Ali’s estate, with his widow Lonnie Ali serving as executive producer. Watkins’ Blue Monday Productions backs the series alongside Michael B. Jordan’s Outlier Society, Authentic Studios, Roc Nation, Shawn Carter, Polygram Entertainment, and Grace: A Storytelling Company. Executive producers include Elizabeth Raposo, Corey Salter, Matthew Gross, Marc Rosen, Craig Siebels, Aiyana White, Jeff Augustin, Katie Wech, Owen Shiflett, Boyd Muir, Michele Anthony, Josh Wakely, David Blackman, Stefano Agosto, and Desiree Perez.
