In a first-time collaboration, JW Anderson and UGG have partnered for a collection that reimagines classic UGG silhouettes with sophisticated updates from designer Jonathan Anderson. Continuing Anderson’s tradition of bringing loafer-inspired details to different products, UGG’s Classic Boot and Tasman have been reimagined with distinct characteristics inspired by penny loafers.
In a statement, Jonathan Anderson shared more insights on his approach: “UGGs are instantly recognisable, and I was interested in seeing something so familiar through the lens of JW Anderson.” “We’ve explored the loafer extensively at JW ANDERSON, not only as footwear but also through its details applied to bags and ready-to-wear. I wanted to see how that language could translate into UGG,” he added.
While maintaining their iconic shape and comfy feel, the casual models are imbued with renewed elegance through penny keepers placed over the toe box and visible box stitching. Boasting full suede uppers and a furry white lining, the Classic Boot features a JW Anderson tag on the back heel, while the Tasman slides showcase the logo on the lateral collar. The release comes in an Autumnal palette of Chestnut, Khaki and Orange, hand selected by Anderson.
While sneaker loafers have been in the menswear zeitgeist for the last couple of years, bringing sports-inspired performance details to the dress shoe style, JW Anderson takes the trend in a different direction.
