Following a teaser of the collaboration at Michael Rider‘s Celine SS27 Men’s debut in June, the Parisian label has officially unveiled the Celine/Reebok Freestyle Lo. The retro silhouette is reintroduced in monochromatic yet wide-ranging colorways, emphasizing the maison’s elevated treatment of the uppers.
Born in 1982, the original Freestyle Lo has the classic look of an everyday lifestyle sneaker, adorned with the recognizable Reebok overlays on the lateral sides. For Rider’s reimagination of the sneaker, the overlays are forgone to draw more attention to its smooth lambskin uppers. The updated silhouette will arrive in a range of versatile colorways including Optic White, Black, Butter, Beige, Peanut, Dark Brown, Oxblood, and Fluo Red.
With the simple, smooth shape of the toe box, the collaborative sneaker has a similar sensibility to Celine’s slim-soled Jazz Shoes, with a more sportswear-leaning sole. However, the sneaker is generously co-branded. Most noticeably, the classic Reebok wordmark on the tongue is reimagined as a Celine insignia, and the backsides feature Reebok and Celine icons above the heel. For an added designer touch, each pair comes with a limited-edition leather tab with the collaborators’ logos on alternating sides.
The Celine/Reebok Freestyle Lo drops on celine.com and at select Celine stores on September 10. Exclusive colors will be released at Celine Wooster Street, NY, and Omotesando, Tokyo.
