The PGA TOUR and the LeBron James Family Foundation have officially partnered to launch a new multi-year initiative aimed at expanding youth access to golf. The collaboration introduces the inaugural LeBron James Family Foundation Invitational, scheduled to take place at Firestone Country Club in Akron, Ohio, from July 6–7, 2027.
The two-day event combines off-course educational programming with competitive play on Firestone’s South Course. Mentorship initiatives will connect Akron-area students from James’ I PROMISE program directly with professional golfers emerging from the PGA TOUR’s Pathway to Progression Pro-Bound Five program—an initiative launched in 2023 to support athletes from historically underrepresented backgrounds.
The partnership aligns with the PGA TOUR’s evolving philanthropic strategy focused on youth development, community access, and inclusion. Alongside James’ recently launched golf-focused media efforts, the event marks a sustained commitment to creating opportunities for inner-city youth while preserving professional golf’s historic presence at Firestone Country Club.
