Czapek has expanded its openworked line with the launch of the Promenade Transparencies Aqua Blue, a limited edition that builds on the design language established by its predecessor, the Viridian Green. The watch’s centerpiece is a smoked sapphire crystal dial engineered to expose the fully skeletonized, in-house movement beneath.
To achieve its blue fumé gradient, Czapek utilizes a specialized metallization process that applies microscopic metallic dots – each measuring approximately eight microns in diameter – to the underside of the sapphire disc. The dot density gradually thins out toward the center and thickens at the outer edges, providing optical clarity over the movement while creating an opaque perimeter.
Fitted into a slender 38mm stainless steel case measuring 10.8mm thick, the watch introduces custom hand-applied hour markers made from solid blocks of light blue Super-LumiNova. Beneath the sapphire dial beats the automatic Calibre SXH7, an in-house skeletonized movement whose seven openworked bridges pay homage to François Czapek’s 19th-century pocket watches.
To present a clean, architecture-focused front, Czapek’s watchmakers reversed the escapement and relocated the small seconds subdial off-center to the 4:30 mark. The movement also features a micro-rotor machined from 100% recycled platinum, openworked ratchets, sandblasted bridges and extensive hand-chamfered inward angles that are finished symmetrically across both sides.
Capped at a limited run of just 38 pieces, the Czapek Promenade Transparencies Aqua Blue opens for orders starting today via Czapek’s Geneva flagship boutique, authorized global retailers, and the brand’s website.
