Coinciding with World Oceans Day, Blancpain has unveiled the new Fifty Fathoms Tech watch. Building on the legacy of the original 1953 Fifty Fathoms, which is widely regarded as the first true diver’s tool watch, this latest iteration continues the brand’s long-standing dedication to marine preservation through the Blancpain Ocean Commitment.
Housed in a 47 mm watch case crafted from Grade 23 titanium, the timepiece maintains an ultra-lightness that is capable of withstanding 300 meters underwater. Its pitch-black dial is designed to absorb up to 97% of ambient light and is complemented by Super‑LumiNova in blue for diving indications, as well as in green to ensure clarity at any depth. Its main standout feature is its pioneering 3-hour bezel and dedicated 3-hour hand, a complication that adapts the traditional 24-hour GMT mechanism to accurately measure extended dive times.
A redesigned interchangeable strap system with tool‑free central lugs offers versatility, with orange, black, or white rubber options. Inside, the calibre 13P5A delivers a robust 120‑hour power reserve, derived from Blancpain’s proven Calibre 1315. Priced at $27,200 USD, the Fifty Fathoms Tech is supplied in Blancpain’s rugged Peli™ case and represents both a technical evolution and a symbolic continuation of the brand’s Ocean Commitment program.
