TAG Heuer has reinforced its long-standing connection to American open-wheel racing with the launch of the Formula 1 Solargraph x Indy 500, marking the 13th collaborative edition between the Swiss watchmaker and the historic race.
Building on the 1986 debut of the Formula 1 collection, this new model is designed to capture the relentless intensity of the Indianapolis 500 while introducing modern light-powered technology to the line. It sports a versatile 38mm sandblasted steel case and a bidirectional TH-Polylight bezel, aimed at reaching a broad audience that experiences motorsport as both a lived passion and a personal expression.
Rich with thematic details, the watch houses a black opalin dial and a screw-down caseback that both feature the Indy 500 logo alongside a checkered “bricks” pattern. This design serves as a direct reference to the legendary “Yard of Bricks” at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, which has marked the finish line for generations of drivers.
For optimal legibility, the dial includes rhodium-plated applied indexes with Super-LumiNova®, a red lacquered central hand, and a brown flange with a 60-second scale. Internally, the TH50-00 Solargraph movement harnesses any light source to provide up to ten months of autonomy on a full charge, with a battery lifespan of approximately 15 years.
Available now through the brand’s official webstore, the TAG Heuer Formula 1 Solargraph Indy 500 is a limited edition of 1,110 pieces and comes with price tag of $2,250 USD.
