Audio excellence is getting a striking visual upgrade at this year’s Milan Design Week. Celebrating 80 years of high-fidelity heritage, legacy audio brand Klipsch has officially unveiled the next chapter in its ongoing collaboration with Ojas, the creative studio of visionary acoustic designer Devon Turnbull. Making its world debut against the stunning backdrop of the Fondazione Luigi Rovati museum, the brand-new kO-R2 loudspeaker is a museum-worthy masterpiece that strips audio down to its most essential, emotional core.
Handcrafted by skilled artisans in Hope, Arkansas—the home of Klipsch since 1946—the limited-edition kO-R2 is a masterclass in acoustic architecture. The visual and sonic centerpiece of the two-way speaker is the Ojas 1506 multisectoral horn. Fabricated from heavy cast aluminum and finished with a sleek flat black powder coat, the exponential horn draws geometric inspiration from classic Western Electric and Altec designs. The result is a distinct, faceted arrangement that delivers incredibly precise, even frequency distribution across both horizontal and vertical planes.
“Working with Klipsch continues to be an exploration of how we can strip audio down to its most essential, emotional core,” explained Turnbull. “With the kO-R2, we focused on creating something that feels immediate and human—where the technology disappears and the listener is left with a pure, physical connection to the music.”
Beyond the striking Baltic birch cabinetry and eye-catching horn, the kO-R2 is loaded with premium, cutting-edge components. The minimalist build boasts a high-end compression driver, a five-step high-frequency gain attenuator for precise sound tuning, anodized aluminum binding posts, and anti-vibration rubber feet.
To introduce the kO-R2 to the world, Klipsch and Ojas have partnered with USM Modular Furniture and Karimoku to host an exclusive, appointment-only activation in Milan. Running through April 26, the curated listening sessions allow fans unprecedented advance access to the speakers, even encouraging guests to bring their own favorite recordings for a deeply personalized audition.
Representing a powerful intersection of heritage craftsmanship and forward-thinking design, the kO-R2 is built for the truest of audiophiles. Production of the collaborative speaker will be strictly limited to just 600 pairs worldwide, arriving in two distinct finishes: a warm Red Oak veneer or a sleek Hammertone Silver. Fans looking to secure a pair for their own listening rooms can expect an official global launch this June.
