Launching today, Hypebeast and George Condo unveil a limited-edition apparel collection that extends the vision of Hypebeast Magazine Issue 36: The Platinum Issue beyond the page. The specialized drop translates Condo’s unmistakable visual language into wearable form, offering fans a rare chance to own the artist’s work while doubling as a material afterimage of one of the magazine’s most ambitious issues to date.
Condo and his artwork appeared as one of the cover stars of Issue 36, anchoring a sprawling feature that traced four decades of his practice, from his roots in downtown New York’s post-punk art scene to his status as one of the most influential living painters. The story framed Condo as an artist whose work has always resisted containment, borrowing freely from art history, music, psychology, and pop culture while collapsing the boundaries between “high” and “low” expression.
That ethos carries directly into the Hypebeast x George Condo capsule collection. Condo seldom collaborates on commercial projects — past examples with Kanye West, Travis Scott, and Supreme remain rare and highly sought-after. This release is a significant addition to his limited body of collaborative work.
The collaboration approaches apparel as another surface for Condo’s visual language — one that can circulate in the world the same way his imagery has appeared on album covers, skate decks, and cultural artifacts for decades. The result is a restrained, editorially-minded collection that foregrounds the icon’s artwork first and foremost.
Across the capsule, Condo’s imagery is rendered onto classic silhouettes, emphasizing texture, scale, and wearability. Semi-oversized fits and washed finishes lend the pieces a lived-in quality, allowing the artwork to feel embedded rather than imposed. Subtle co-branding details — including discreet Hypebeast logo tabs — keep the focus squarely on Condo’s work.
Produced in limited numbers, the release mirrors the spirit of The Platinum Issue itself: considered, finite, and designed to exist as a time capsule. For fans of Condo’s work — and readers of our magazine — the capsule operates as both a wearable artifact and a continuation of the editorial conversation.
The Hypebeast x George Condo capsule includes:
- Light blue striped oxford shirt featuring a digital print of Condo’s artwork
- Black Hawaiian shirt with full-coverage artwork print
- Black graphic T-shirt with a “laser-burned” rendering of Condo’s imagery
- Washed black ball cap embroidered with the artist’s name.
Each piece is produced in limited quantities and designed with semi-oversized fits.
