It’s no question that PUMA’s Mostro has taken the sneaker scene by storm — spearheading the low-profile silhouette trend that has seeped well into the new year.

The millennium-released sneaker received a cult following for its futuristic look and has since been embraced by a contemporary audience as an extension of the wider Y2K revival. Since being reissued in 2024, the brand has continued to build on its everlasting impact from sought-after collaborations with CNCPTS and Inside Tag to creative director of its F1 division A$AP Rocky channeling his unique aesthetic onto the shoe – the Mostro’s acclaim isn’t showing any sign of slowing down.

To celebrate the silhouette’s legacy, Hypebeast has teamed up with PUMA to showcase the sneaker’s versatility through a range of styles assessed with the barometer: Disruptive vs Uniform.

Using its “Metallic” drop as the foundation for the outfits, the recent iteration features bold updates that aptly incorporate a reflective finish for a high-tech shine while reworking the brand’s trademark PUMA Formstrip with metallic sculptural appliqués across the upper.

The Mostro is in itself a bold silhouette, and adding the metallic accents makes it a stand-out statement piece. Whether its a understated outfit of white T-shirt and baggy real-tree camo pants, or elevating it with a denim chore coat on top of a checkered shirt paired with wide-fit jorts, or shaking the look up completely with bold colour-combinations, exaggerated layering of racing jackets with a shirt and sweater as well as extra-wide shorts — it’s the wearer that makes the sneaker.

So, the question stands: Where will you land on the Style Spinner?
