Take an Official Look At Olaolu Slawn’s Nike Air Max 90 Collaboration

Olaolu Slawn is one of the most in-demand artists in the world right now. After moving from Nigeria to London in 2017, Slawn soon became known for his canvases that are complemented by caricature pop figures, bold colors, and clear-cut shapes; his art represents topics of psychology, race, politics, and the issues that come with being part of an ethnic minority community. In turn, Slawn has amassed a loyal cult following that has helped to open the doors to new opportunities, allowing Slawn to represent the environments he’s a product of.

Now, Slawn is moving on to his next project: a collaboration with Nike for two brand-new Air Max 90 silhouettes. The collaboration combines the classic AM90 silhouette with Slawn’s future-facing artwork, with two new colorways — in black and white — featuring a paint-speckle design that nods to Slawn’s raw and graffiti-adjacent style. This, as a whole, is an indication of how Slawn’s work extends from his studio into the streets of London.

Additionally, the sneakers are designed with Slawn’s trademark “cartoonish” figures, equipped with a defiant stare embossed onto the heel cap. This same detailing is also added to the heel cap and throughout the leather uppers. Rounding things out, the sneakers are hit with the signature Air Bubble of the Air Max 90.
