A traveling pop-up turned thriving counter-service food establishment and convenience store, Mama Yoshi Mini Mart serves everything from onigiri and musubi to katsu and karaage from their sunny, Konbini-inspired corner spot in Ridgewood, Queens. Founded by Yukiko Muneyasu and Miles Tickler, Mini Mart’s culinary creations are inspired by everything from the dishes cooked by Muneyasu’s mother, Yoshi, to the feeling of the Japanese fast food she’d eat growing up, to several of her and Tickler’s original dishes — a compelling mix that earned Mini Mart Eater’s “Best Pop-Up Turned Restaurant” award in 2023. Expect Mini Mart’s Hypebeast Flea offerings to include the aforementioned onigiri and musubi and a variety of their signature burritos (vegan and gluten-free options will be available as well). See below for what else you can expect from the MYMM crew.

Explain your brand to people who may not know you yet.

Mama Yoshi Mini Mart is an eatery that is loosely based on a Japanese convenience store (konbini). We also have a small made-to-order menu. The goal is to meet the demand of busy folks on their way to work or the park, and those who want to chill and enjoy a meal in the space. A small pantry is available to supplement home cooking needs. We try our best to make a comfortable and fun experience for the customer with an open kitchen conducive to conversation and interaction. We are known for our rotating onigiri flavors that change with seasons and the big boi portions of our menu items :)
