UPDATE: XXXTentacion Pronounced Dead by Police
Reports have confirmed his death from being shot in Miami.
UPDATE: XXXTentacion has been officially pronounced dead by the Broward Co. Sheriff’s Dept at 5:40 p.m. EST. The Broward Sheriff’s Office initially confirmed that it was “working an incident regarding a shooting at 3671 N. Dixie Hwy., Deerfield Beach.”
“PIO [public information officer] headed to scene,” it said. “Dispatchers received a call of a shooting at 3:57 p.m. An adult male victim was transported to an area hospital.”
Shortly after the police said that “the adult male that was taken to the hospital has been pronounced dead,” confirming that the victim was “20-year-old Jahseh Onfroy aka rapper XXXTentacion.” Just minutes before he was murdered, X took to his Instagram Story to tell his fans that he was “planning a charity event for this weekend Florida.”
Following his passing, fellow artists and celebrities including Kanye West, J. Cole, Big Sean, Pusha T, Lil Pump and more took to their social media platforms to mourn, sharing their memories and love for the artist.
As TMZ reports, rapper XXXTentacion has been shot in Miami, Florida. XXX was reportedly “shopping for motorcycles” in the South Florida area when he was approached by two men and shot as he was exiting the motorcycle dealership. According to “dispatch audio” obtained by TMZ, several shots were reported around 3:57 p.m. EST and might have been “a drive-by.” The “alleged shooters” fled the area “in a black Dodge Journey,” and the Broward County Fire Department also explained that XXX “has been rushed” to a local hospital as a level 1 trauma patient. His condition is currently unknown.
While details concerning the incident are scarce at the time of publishing, TMZ has posted blurred footage of the scene. As the visual shows, several bystanders appeared to be trying to help.
