AmaWaterways is elevating the standard for luxury exploration in Egypt with the launch of its newest vessel, AmaNubia. Scheduled to hit the water in November 2026, the 236-foot river ship promises a highly curated journey through ancient history. The launch follows the successful debut of the AmaLilia in 2024 and signals a massive renewed interest in high-end travel across the Middle East. With a maximum capacity of 76 guests, the layout prioritizes intimacy and premium service. Accommodations include 23 distinct staterooms and 15 expansive suites. The crown jewel is a full-beam owner’s suite spanning 525 square feet on the upper deck offering panoramic views of the water.

Design cues throughout the ship pull directly from the surrounding landscape and historical sites. Textures and colors reflect classical Egyptian artistry to bring an elevated regional aesthetic to the living spaces. Onboard amenities match the high expectations of modern luxury cruisers. Guests have access to a sprawling sundeck complete with a swimming pool, a dedicated wellness area and a fully equipped fitness center. Dining options highlight fresh local ingredients and range from a vibrant main restaurant to a more exclusive Chef’s Table experience. Every sailing also features dedicated Egyptologists who provide cultural context through engaging onboard lectures.

The ship will exclusively operate the Secrets of Egypt & the Nile itinerary. This route guarantees close proximity to some of the most recognized monuments on the planet while allowing travelers to dock directly beside key attractions. Excursions cover iconic landmarks like the Great Pyramids of Giza, the Great Sphinx, the Grand Egyptian Museum, Luxor Temple and the Valley of the Kings. An exclusive private tour of the historic Abdeen Palace in Cairo is also included in the package. The trip transitions onto land with a stay at the Four Seasons Hotel Cairo at the First Residence to maintain a seamless luxury standard.

Industry experts note that river cruising remains one of the safest and most efficient ways to experience the country because all movements are closely chaperoned and coordinated. Travelers seeking an extended adventure can also add on optional experiences. Additional highlights include visits to the monumental Abu Simbel temple or high tea at the historic Sofitel Legend Old Cataract hotel in Aswan. Those looking to push boundaries further can customize their journey with regional extensions into Alexandria, Dubai and Jordan. AmaWaterways CEO Catherine Powell expressed enthusiasm for the project by citing the profound historical significance of the region and a massive spike in consumer demand for immersive cultural voyages.
