Summary

  • Vacheron Constantin revives the Traditionnelle Twin Beat Perpetual Calendar with a refined openworked dial
  • Housed in a 42mm platinum case, the dual‑frequency calibre 3610 QP delivers 70‑day standby reserve and 4‑day active reserve

The Vacheron Constantin Traditionnelle Twin Beat Perpetual Calendar returns in 2026 with a refined openworked dial and enhanced technical performance.

Originally introduced in 2019, the watch is distinguished by its patented dual‑frequency calibre 3610 QP, which allows the wearer to switch between a high‑frequency Active mode and a low‑frequency Standby mode. In “Active” mode, the balance wheel beats at a high frequency of 5 Hz (36,000 vph), delivering 4 days of power reserve for daily wear. When the watch is taken off, the user can switch to “Standby” mode, dropping the frequency to 1.2 Hz (8,640 vph) and extending the power reserve to an astonishing 70 days. This 70-day Standby capacity marks a 5-day improvement over the 2019 model, achieved through the optimization of the movement’s three differentials and a new double-gear spring-winding mechanism that requires four times less torque during the instantaneous date change.

The movement itself comprises 480 components and 64 jewels, certified by the Geneva Seal. In Active mode, the watch offers a four‑day reserve, while Standby mode maximizes efficiency without compromising precision. A push‑button at 8 o’clock enables instant switching between modes, with a dial indicator confirming the setting. The perpetual calendar complication, designed to follow the Gregorian calendar until 2100, benefits from a newly developed double‑gear spring‑winding mechanism that reduces torque requirements by four times compared to conventional instant‑jump systems. This optimization contributes to the additional five days of autonomy achieved in the latest version.

Aesthetically, the 42mm Traditionnelle Twin Beat Perpetual Calendar seamlessly blends classic codes with a highly contemporary, openworked design. The slim, 12.3mm platinum case features a classic rounded shape, a thin bezel and a fluted caseback. Its striking two-part dial is characterized by an 18k gold upper plate finished in slate grey with a hand-guilloché radiating pattern, while the lower sapphire section exposes the sandblasted movement mainplate treated with a dark NAC galvanic coating. Faceted 18k white gold Dauphine hands indicate the hours and minutes, while frosted, laser-etched glass enhances the legibility of the power reserve, day and month counters.

Fully certified by the Geneva Seal, the movement features hand-bevelled bridges adorned with Côtes de Genève, beautifully contrasting the anthracite grey fixed components with the golden yellow moving parts. Completing the look is a textured black calfskin strap with red stitching and a platinum pin buckle. The Traditionnelle Twin Beat Perpetual Calendar retails for 282,000 CHF (approx. $315,000 USD) and is available for inquiry through Vacheron Constantin.
