William Zabka Trades the Dojo for the Garage for Midas’ 70th Anniversary Campaign
“You’re the Best” hits different when an iconic anthem returns to soundtrack an autocare montage.
If you grew up on crane kicks and dojo rivalries, William Zabka doesn’t need much introduction. The Cobra Kai and The Karate Kid star is stepping into a new arena, trading martial arts mats for motor oil as the face of Midas.
Nostalgic, yet unexpectedly on-brand, Zabka fronts the company’s 70th anniversary campaign, “Midas Is the Best,” leaning into the same disciplined cool that made him a cultural fixture decades ago. And if anyone can make a brake check feel like a boss-level training sequence, it’s him. Cue the training montage.
The campaign plays like a remix of Zabka’s legacy, positioning him as a modern-day “Midas Master Technician.” It’s less of a villain arc and more of a veteran sensei energy. The campaign taps into his long-standing association with precision, confidence and that unmistakable swagger. Additionally, the campaign reunites Zabka with the iconic track, “You’re the Best” by Joe Esposito that pulls viewers back into that ‘80s montage mindset, except this time, the stakes are oil changes instead of tournament trophies. The cinematic spots lean into craftsmanship and mastery, reframing Midas auto care as something closer to an art form than a chore.
Fun and familiar, the rollout balances nostalgia with a forward-facing lens. It’s the kind of campaign that leverages legacy without feeling stuck in it. And in 2026, mastery doesn’t mean martial arts training in the dojo but it might just be under the hood in a garage.
