Tokyo-based imprint VA has officially joined forces with adidas Originals to deliver a fresh take on the hybrid VA SUPERSTAN. Melding two of the most recognizable footwear icons in the German sportswear giant’s arsenal, the release reconstructs a previously limited silhouette through a highly refined, contemporary lens.
Merging court heritage with street-ready design, the sneaker borrows foundational elements from both of its namesakes. The lower half of the shoe is defined by the Superstar‘s unmistakable tooling, utilizing its signature ribbed rubber shell toe and structured midsole. In contrast, the upper seamlessly adopts the clean, minimalist architecture of the Stan Smith, complete with the model’s classic perforated Three Stripes detailing across the sidewalls.
To elevate the hybrid design, VA opted for a sophisticated material upgrade. The upper is constructed entirely from a glossy black patent leather that provides a polished, elevated aesthetic. Striking a balance between luxury and archival nostalgia, the lustrous black upper is sharply contrasted by a vintage-inspired off-white sole unit — a deliberate color-blocking choice that pays direct homage to classic 1980s Superstar colorways.
