IWC has broadened its Portugieser collection with the Chronograph Ceratanium®, a bold reimagining of one of its most iconic designs.
Presented in an all-black execution, the watch is crafted entirely from Ceratanium®, an advanced material developed by IWC that combines the lightness and robustness of titanium with the hardness and scratch resistance of ceramic. The 41mmccase, crown and pushers are all rendered in this distinctive dark finish, complemented an all-black aesthetic across the dial, appliqués, hands and a matching rubber strap.
Since its debut in 1998, the Portugieser Chronograph has been celebrated for its sporty elegance and instantly recognizable design, featuring two vertically arranged subdials and a quarter-second scale on the inner flange. In this stealthy new iteration, the monochromatic aesthetic emphasizes the silhouette of the watch, stripping away distractions to highlight its pure form. Christian Knoop, IWC’s Creative Director, described the all-black execution as “different from anything we have ever done before,” underscoring the brand’s commitment to innovation while maintaining the timeless appeal of the Portugieser line.
The Portugieser Chronograph Ceratanium® is powered by the IWC-manufactured 69355 caliber, a mechanical chronograph movement with a column-wheel mechanism and automatic winding. Limited to 1,500 pieces and retailing for $14,600 USD, the watch is now available through IWC.
